Born and raised in Calcutta(India), Sadiq Rahman has worked as an academician, writer, film maker and a radio presenter. Sadiq has lived in New Delhi, NewYork, Calcutta, Austin(Texas),Algiers(Algeria) and Hamburg. His works explore themes like immigration, religion, children and student life.

Sadiq graduated from the University of Calcutta with a Bachelor‘s degree in English (Honours).He completed his Master of Arts in English from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi where he was awarded the Gold Medal as the University Topper. Sadiq is the recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship in the year 2007. As a Fulbright he has taught in the Department of Asian Studies in the University of Texas, Austin. At the University of Texas, Austin, he got an opportunity to attend courses like Afro-American Literature and Culture, Creative Writing, American Literature and Realism and Film and Television Production. He has worked as an Assistant Professor of English and Communications in various Business Schools of New Delhi, India for more than five years. He is currently a Doctoral Researcher in the University of Hamburg. Sadiq also teaches South Asian Cinema and his mother tongue Bengali at the Asia Africa Institute of the University of Hamburg.

Sadiq‘s first book of poem 'The Dreamseller' (Bani Prakash, 2003) was released when he was 19 years old. His second book of poems 'Quatrain of Misunderstood Poets' (Delhi Poetree, 2009) was inaugurated at the American Centre, New Delhi.

Besides writing poetry and prose, he has also written scripts for films and radio. Sadiq‘s first film 'Animan', premiered at the Kinetoscopic Wonderment Film Festival in Austin, Texas in 2008. He also wrote, produced and directed several other films like 'A ride to remember', 'Lost and Found' and various short commercial films like 'Voices' and 'Voices'.

Besides freelancing for All India Radio and Radio Jamia(90.4 FM), Sadiq wrote, produced and hosted his celebrity talk show 'Nostalgic with Sadiq' on KVRX 91.7 FM, Austin, Texas.(2008). Sadiq also takes keen interest in painting, dramatics and social work.

He is currently busy working on his first novel, a collection of short stories and a number of exciting film projects.
